UK Ordnance Survey maps subscription?

Is it possible to get an annual subscription to UK Ordnance Survey Explorer and Landranger maps? The only option in the store seems to be to buy each map individually.

Thanks

Dear Steve,

I'm sorry but it isn't possible to order mentioned map as a subscription. Only individual purchase is available at this moment

Thanks, Petr

Thanks. That's a shame as I do like the configurability of the app, but this just means it works out a very expensive way of viewing OS maps.

@Locus Map, as you moved to a subscription model for the application, you may want to consider the same for "premium" maps (which would give you another recurring revenue stream).

There are a number of applications that already offer the OS maps on a yearly subscription (ViewRanger, Outdoors Active, OS maps etc) so people in the UK are quite used to this model.

I don't think we'll be able to add OS maps into Locus Map premium subscription but the second option sounds well. We'll check possibilities if OS supports the subscription for the partners.

Thanks, Petr

Yes we're used to paying about $US 30 a year or so for online (and downloaded offline) OS maps. I actually prefer it to buying them outright as the maps are always up to date and as a user I get better protection from the app's authors going out of business (only risk is one year's subscription fee, at most).

The "Pro" membership at outdooractive includes the OS Maps - also available for download for offline use.

View ranger has a preium for features, and also a preium + maps that gets features + OS maps

For myself Im happy with lomaps and john thorn, but I can appreciate a lot of UK users would only change to locus if they had OS maps still

And since Viewranger is now defunct and has been taken over by outdooractive, there are a lot of viewranger users turning up here...

Indeed, I am a Viewranger refugee, it having been bought up and replaced with an inferior app, Outdoor Active. While this app might be as flexible as Viewranger at some time in the future, it certainly isn't now. So I'm looking to replace it - a shame as I was generally happy with Viewranger and happy to give them my money each year.

The best thing about viewranger was the syncing and online features, the 3d rendering, the navigation arrow in AR view, AR peak identification, and easier to add photos to tracks.

I only really used it as for a couple of years i used phone and tablet while out so i needed syncing.

Outdoor active is abyssmal in comparison....

That's right! The only really big advantage of outdooractive are the official topographic maps (for download and not only OS, but also German and French for example) in the Pro subscription - if there were those in Locus, then I would not need any other app.

Hi,

thank you for the info. Honestly, we can't offer mentioned maps are part of the Gold subscription. At least right now in the beginning of the LM4 subscription. Anyway, we'll find out the terms of use for OS subscription and if we're able to offer it.

Thank you!

It completely makes sense to charge separately for a subscription to OS maps.

I think you'll find that doing so (at a reasonable price) will also increase application subscriptions. There will be a large number of people in the UK who do not use Locus Map because it does not offer OS maps at a reasonable price.

As noted elsewhere, there are also a large number of ViewRanger users that are being forced off that platform (no option to renew their subscription). In general, Locus Map seems like a very good alternative and I think if you offered OS maps subscription you could capture a large number of them.
