OSM notes disappear when zooming

Norbert shared this problem 3 years ago
Solved

Locus Map 4 silver

I switch on "OSM notes" in the map. Zoom in, zoom out, some OSM notes disappear or appear.

So I have to look parallel on the website openstreetmap.org and there I could see all OSM notes in the same area.

Hello Norbert,

we are not aware of any problem with the unexpected hiding of the OSM notes. We are testing it with my colleague and nothing like this happens. As I see in the app code, there is a limit of 250 visible notes at once. Isn't possible that you work in the area with lot more reported notes at once?

Anyway just for info: change in the zoom should cause a reload of notes from the OSM server, so there may be a tiny gap when notes disappear from the map before they appear back.

In my area and zoom-level are less then 30 OSM notes.

A little bit cache may be usefull. On the website openstreetmap.org and my zooming the OSM notes are remain.

Best regards

Norbert

Hello Norbert,

I'm sorry, but I'm testing it and still can't see any unexpected behavior. Unfortunately without proper simulation, I can hardly fix it.

Should be possible to record a short video to show me this problematic behavior? Thanks.

I tested the function several days ago and also right now (Locus 3.5). I think there's indeed an issue with displaying of OSM-notes since it worked well in the past.

Please have a look at the OSM around Krulov, where several opened Notes are: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/48.8136/14.3205&layers=N

If I move Locus to this Location, for about 1-2 minutes no Notes are displayed at all. This just took 1-3 seconds in the past. I read that OSM changed parts of their API some weeks ago. Maybe the API-communication OSM => Locus is not up-to-date?

Hi Sonny,

I still do not see any problem, anyway the logic that causes the loading of OSM notes is in the latest version quite old. So, I've updated it to the more modern system used for example for new online LoPoints. It Will be implemented in the next version, so give it a try and let me know if it helps. Thanks.
