How do I get rid of these grouped icons?

Geoff Moss shared this question 3 years ago
Answered

See the attached screenshot. It's an OpenAndroMap in Locus Pro.

I would like to hide all the little P icons and peak icons. They have numbers by them when several are grouped closely together. I don't want them. They popup info windows if I touch 'em.

I've been playing with the settings so have probably inadvertently changed something but I can't find out where!

Any help gratefully received....I thought I knew this app well enough to manage what displays. I was wrong!

Hi Geoff, which OAM map precisely do you use? V4 or V3? Do you use also OAM points of interest?

The Great Britain OAM map is dated 31 Oct 2020 in 'details'. I'm on Locus Map 3.50.0

I haven't touched POIs. I think it's a bug. I've been playing and....

'Reset preferences'.

then chose OAM Great britain

Then changed theme to Elevate 4

Then added hillshading - now a few 'ruins' icons appear when scale is at 4km.

Now....how many and which POIs linger on screen, when I'm quite zoomed out, seems to change depending on what icons I put in the top panel.

Probably unrelated but also I set panel hiding timeout to 3600s so I can manually dismiss the control panels, This doesn't work unless there's at least one panel on the right hand edge. If I've only got top and bottom panels showing then I can't dismiss the panels at all. Put something on the right hand edge and now I can tap the panels away...

I'm still experimenting.

Thanks for helping :-)

Hi Geoff,

thanks for the details. However, I can't simulate the problem. Please, create a backup of your settings via the Backup manager and send the backup file to me here, I'll test your complete setup. Thanks

That's so helpful. Thanks :-) I'm a bit busy at the moment but will get back to this as soon as I can with a backup of my settings. I'm trying to find a configuration sequence that is repeatable and causes the problem.

Thank you.

I'm still fiddling with this one. Can you please tell me how to completely switch off all the little 'active' POI icons that float above the map? I don't normally use them and since updating the app they have appeared. I haven't 'enabled' them and I don't remember using or seeing them before. I can't find a master OFF switch! Thanks :-)

PS Where do I find the 'Backup manager'? Just scanned all the settings options....

Hi Geoff,

- LoPoints or OAM POIs can be switched off in Locus menu > more > LoPoints offline > topbar menu > "Show on map" - uncheck

- Backup manager is in Locus menu > more (not in settings, more at https://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tools:backup)

Michal,

Thank you. I didn't knowingly enable offline lopoints but disabling them has got rid of them. Great. Perhaps a fresh install of 3.50.1 enables them by default where it didn't in previous versions? Anyway, all good now.

---------------------------

Whilst I've got your expert attention! I've still got an issue with dismissing 'panels and buttons'.

I've enabled Top panel hiding, bottom panel hiding and right panel hiding switches in 'Panels and buttons'.

I want to manually summon and dismiss those panels, so I've set the 'Panel hiding timeout' to 3600s. Then a double tap will call them up when I want and dismiss them when I want.

However this only works when I have a button in the right panel. If I'm only using the top and bottom panels I can't dismiss the panels with a double tap. See image.

Any idea?

Hi Geoff,

thanks for finding a bug! This is of course not correct behavior of the panels. I'll forward it to the main developer.

Geoff Moss, in the config.cfg configuration file, write "gui_main_screen_visible_panels_at_start=0", and the panel will not appear when starting Locus.

Thanks for caring Vyacheslav :-) That's not actually my issue.

I don't mind how the app starts up. I just want to be able to dismiss the panels when I've finished with them, with a double tap. At the moment that only works if I have a right panel (which I don't particularly need).

I think the app is great. Slightly nervous about what might happen to it with v4. Hope it doesn't change much.

Cheers, Geoff

Michal, thanks for passing that on. It's the first obvious bug I've encountered with Locus Map. It's my favourite nav app. Geoff

Hi Geoff, it's been fixed. See the next Locus version.

Michal, that was quick work. Thanks very much. I'll look out for the next version on the Play store and upgrade when I can. :-)

I've now got Locus Map 4 and the same probem! I can't get rid of the floating active POIs.

See attached image where I've removed the map for clarity.

I've tried Main menu > All features > Points > LoPoints offline

Then I've tapped the menu icon top right and unticked Show on map.

However they still show on the map.

How can I get rid of these....anyone know?

Michal,

You are a star. Thanks. I dont know why I struggle with POIs so much :-) My POIs are now under control. You'd think I'd have noticed them there....but I didn't. I was expecting to find them deeper in the menu structure....

Thank you.
