Crashes (restarting the smartphone) of Locus Map Pro with Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro
With my new smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro I have enormous difficulties with Locus Map Pro. As soon as I have installed a current map (V4 Map from Openandromaps.org) in Locus Map Pro and move around on the map, the screen freezes after a few minutes and the smartphone cannot be operated anymore. After another 30 seconds the smartphone will boot. This failure can be reproduced, it occurs in all my attempts. Even uninstalling and then reinstalling Locus Map Pro does not help.
I also tried to use Locus Map Pro without V4 Map with MTB Europe map. Here it took a little bit longer, but again I crashed the smartphone by zooming in the map. But here I got a white screen for a few seconds when the phone crashed.
After a hint I made the following settings:
Locus Map set as service
Android system settings for energy saving mode of apps: No restrictions, energy saving does NOT restrict app activities.
Even with these settings the smartphone still crashes (reboots) when I use Locus Map Pro.
Operating system (Android 10, MIUI Global 11.0.4) and apps are up to date.
Are you aware of difficulties related to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro smartphone and Locus Map Pro?
Can you give tips on how to solve this problem?
The crashes occur exclusively with the App Locus Map Pro.
Hello Frank,
sorry to read about such problems on your device. I have to admit that we already received few times similar reports and usually, it ends with a refund of purchase (in case of purchase within a year) or just stopping usage of the Locus Map app.
Because of the crash of the whole system, there is no option to create a bug-report log by a common method and the only option is over external application on PC. Not sure how skilled you are, but you may give a try to this alternative method of creating a bug report.
Generally, applications run in own environment and should not affect the whole system, so this is really rare and usually, it is some problem with the system. On the second side, this Xiaomi device is quite common and this is the first similar report for a long time.
We will also publish a new Locus Map version till the end of week, so you may give a try to this update 3.48, maybe it will help.

I got the same problem, a white screen appears and then the phone reboots. Also got Xiaomi Redmi note 9 pro with android 10 and MIUI 11.0.4. But this happens randomly, not using a specifi application.

I returned a phone to Amazon with the same issue. Was not locus, just most visible with locus. Random reboots of the phone several times a day c/o kernel panic. With locus it is obvious the app has been stopped ( boot sequence / recording paused etc ). Replaced the phone with a different Xiaomi model.

I had the same problems with Redmi Note 9 Pro. It just used to self-reboot with no apparent reason.
Sometimes in the pocket, sometimes opening camera, sometimes during navigation with waze or using Android Auto.
I was not able to return it and now, once updated to MIUI12 under Android11, and removed Waze, it seems to work a little better. Self reboots have become more infrequent (maybe 2 o 3 in a week instead of 3 or 4 per day) and, in any case, LocusMap is giving me no issues at all...
Making a long story short, I guess that the problems are on the phone, not on Locus Map.
