Locus Pro Vs Locus Free C/No

Hello, Why are the satellite C/No strengths higher in Locus Map Free and lower on Locus Map Pro? Antenna position hasn't changed. Locus Pro shows most satellites with red to yellow while Locus Free shows satellite strengths as yellow to green.

Hi,

both versions of the app use the same system for communication with the device's GPS unit. The only reason for the difference might be the GPS setting in Locus - one version has "Google Services assisted location" ON and the other has it OFF. Please check it out.

Okay that sounds plausible. So I checked both Locus Free and Locus map Pro and the setting for Google Assistant Services is off in both of the apps. Also, I always use an external GPS. I don't use the internal phone GPS. The internal GPs is always turned off. The disparity in the C/No between Locus Free and Locus Map Pro has been present for quite a few versions. So, this isn't the first time that this has popped up but it is the first time I've got around to asking about it.

I am probably doing something incorrectly, I just can't figure out what it is.

Hi,

we discussed the issue with the main developer and he doesn't know either - both apps are identical regarding communication with GPS - internal or external.

Various phone makes have various methods... for example Xiaomi has combination of volume down and app list button.

Hi,

the main developer has investigated the issue deeper in the code and found out following:

- all in the UI is the same for both versions except the height/color of the columns depicting satellite signals. The value is calculated as the ratio of the current value to the best the device has ever had. The maximum value can vary, so it is not fixed for each. So your Locus Map Pro sometimes picked up a very good signal before, and therefore its current values look weaker (as opposed to the good signal previously picked up).

So, after checking the Android /LocusMap Pro folders, looking for the Best C/No values this phone has received /established.

Please tell me the file name and location for the Best C/No values for this phone, which are used in the following ratio calculation /comparison:

"The value is calculated as the ratio of the current value to the best the device has ever had. The maximum value can vary, so it is not fixed for each."

I would like to delete those C/No values, so that the C/No displayed values are realistic and not hampered by historical values.

Thank You,

Hi,

this can be changed only by resetting the app preferences (Locus settings > Miscellaneous > Reset preferences)

Thank you Michal.

I have reset the preferences using the main menu, settings, miscellaneous, reset preferences.

This screenshot, IMG_20200929_0008.jpeg, is with a Bluetooth ZED-F9P, on a Locus Map Pro.

The 2nd screenshot, IMG_20200929_0007.jpeg, is a Bluetooth ZED-F9P, on Locus Map Free.

Thank you

Hi,

you've discovered (also for us) that this setting is not removed by the restoration - thank you :). Okay, we'll add it to the next app version.
