Locus 4 - family library
Answered
Hi,
I am very much looking forward to Locus 4. And I am also willing to pay a regular fee for it – I also like to have regular income. Nevertheless, I wonder how you will deal with the google play family library? My children only use locus a few times per year - when I force them to go out into the nature with me :-), so a yearly subscription would be out of proportion.
Best wishes,
GuRa
Would you be able to sign in to your locus accout on all the devices? main queation would be how would this affect live tracking?

Hi ,
@GuRa - I'm sorry but Google Play doesn't allow sharing the In-App purchases (subscription) in Google Play Family
@ Alistair - Yes, it will be possible to log in to multiple devices, synchronize data between the devices. Live tracking feature will be available as part of the new subscription plan.
Thanks, Petr

Hi Petr,
Thank you very much for your answer!
That's not what we are looking for exactly. Of course we could use the future "Locus classic" version (we have it for more than 5 years now), but then we can't support the developers team. We could, but I'm quite sure, if new android versions come up, new feature may be not supported anymore. (or will never be supported like dark mode, what I asked 5 years ago for, after i had burn marks in my amoled screen from usage at a 3 day MTB tour)
What we would suggest is, a revised payment model, like separate modules users could subscribe for, if they want to use them, but not as in app subscription... (e.g. my wife likes geocaching, but I would not need this...)
Perhaps this would bring back some jumpers or would animate more people to go with Locus Map 4?
Cheers

Hi Max
Could you not add your google account to your wifes phone, and just disable all the drive/gmail etc and just have your lay store on their, in addition to hers
and therefore have access to the same account for subscription...

From the discussion I understand that Locus itself sees no problem in family sharing, only because of the in-app construction of Locus4 Google Play gives problems in this. I would think the best possibility is that Locus, through clever programming, will release 3 versions: a basic version, the silver version and the gold version. They then each do not use the in-app, which makes family sharing possible again. Actually, this construction is already in the basic version; after all, you can still opt for the silver or gold version. The basic version already contains the entire program. It should then not be difficult to block the "gold part" in the silver version and market it as a silver app. As for the basic version, the "silver part" and the "gold part" can be blocked.
Another possibility is that a link is made with the Locus account within a basic version. I saw that it states which version has been paid for. In that case, the basic version will be able to have an online connection with the Locus administration at least once a month to check whether payment has been made.

@Arnor - Thank you for the idea. Unfortunately, such a Silver or Gold app isn't really planned. This is probably a question on Google to enable Family sharing also for subscriptions.
Thanks, Petr
