"Show view" button missing in LM4

When moving with the smartphone (hiking or cycling) it's not impossible to tap the center button 2 or more times. But then getting a rotating map and an additional button {compass button above the center button) isn't useful.

Where's the LM3 switch rotating map / show view direction /off? I miss this switch, especially the display of the view direction at the map cursor.

Could this compass button replaced with this old switch?

I think it's all optimal. Whether hiking or cycling. I do not want to change here.

After the first hiking with LM4: why is there no more view direction function? It's absolutely needed for orientation.

Hello Jan,

you wrote "getting a rotating map and an additional button isn't useful". Why not? In Locus Map Pro, a rotating button also appears in the top left corner. The current system was heavily inspired by the system used in Google Maps. How well it works, only time show.

What is your proposal? Always display small compass button and on the tap, display two old options "Rotate map" and "Show view"?

Yes, this is an approach. I miss the show view function. When hiking on not clearly visible trails this is a very import function.

Hmm you are correct with the "Show view". It was removed from the main screen and is currently available only in the Settings > Maps > Auxiliary graphics.

There is a few options how to solve this. Because during last months, nobody reported that this feature is missing, I've completely forget on it. Thanks, I'll think about it and let you know here about the "Show view" feature.

PS: Google Maps are not bad in all aspects, I'm sure you know it. There target a different kind of users, but all will agree, they employ definitely a lot more people on the UI/UX design that we do :).

And: you shouldn't be inspired by the Google Maps system. This system is the reason why so many people are using LM.

OK, I got the Show view back. But having this switch directly in UI, not in settings, would be better. For me.

I too am missing the easy ability to enable/disable the show view cursor option in LM4.

It would also be acceptable (for me) to be able to add it to the quick settings button/window... but show view is not listed as addable to the quick settings...
