Cannot upgrade to premium: old Play Store app

when trying to go premium I get the error "looks like you're using an old version of Play Store. Update to the latest version to continue." I have Android 7.1.2, Play Store and everything updated to the latest version. How can I upgrade?

sorry, problem solved. Was a fresh install, when clicking on the Play Store version in Play Store Settings (version 9.7.1.1) it updated to latest version (22 something). Now it worked. Happy to be part of the Gold-family... ;)
