BT Sensor Settings lost after App Restart

Ulrich Kiermayr shared this problem 3 years ago
Solved

When I change the Settings of a BT Sensor, the Values are reset after App Restart.

For the name this is an inconvenience, but for the Wheel Size this is a Problem, since it gives wrong speed values. This applies to the new sensor Manager (which is great by the way).

Hello Ulrich,

thanks for the bug report. Are you really using the latest version from Google Play? I'm unable to simulate this issue and as I check the app code, at the moment, the bottom edit dialog is closed, all sensor parameters should be correctly saved. I've anyway added one more "save settings" call right before the dialog is closed so let's hope, it helps also in your case. I'll try to publish a new Beta version till the end of the week, so you may give it a try later.

Hi,

I checked with 4.4.1 and the problem is still here.

Hello,

Checked with 4.4.2 - the Problem persists.

Maybe the problem is, that the Values are overwritten with the defaults somewhen during startup of the app?

btw. this Problem also exists for ANT+ Sensors: After restart a custom name is overwritten by the Name it had on first connect.

Greetings, Ulrich.

Hi, hmm this is impossible! I've updated a lot, how values are saved and there should be no option to reset them, damn.

All other settings in the app are preserved when you restart the app?

Yes. In the Settings everything is properly saved.

Is there any other Information I can provide, that helps debugging it?

Complicated. I'll need special logs from you if you find time on this ...

New special version:

- download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-ldTGiesAORd3J_e3Fredg3gH6jauePs/view?usp=sharing

- install, just overwrite the current version

- after the start, long-click on the main menu > enable logging to file

- open Sensors manager, change the name of any sensor and you may also circumference, confirm, close, and double-back press to close the app

- wait at least five seconds

- and start the app and check if the name changed back

After that, in Locus/logs directory will be logs so send me it, thanks. Feel free to use this version, just do not forget to disable logging.

Hi Both,

I have the same issue:

I have two different R2Due Soeed and Cadence Sensors. The first one is showing as the Name I saved it with ("R2Duo eBike") and with the correct Setting. The second one is NOT showing with the Name I saved ("R2DuoBioBike") but always reverting to "BLE, Rad Geschwindigkeit & cadence Sensor", a value I never entered. It is also not saving the settings after the app restart.

I also cannot get the name of my Pulse Sense (OH1) to persist restarts. It is always getting back to "standard value"

Funny enough, for the first Cadence Sensor, everything is fine. Maybe I did all the settings already at the initial setup and for the others I might have saved "wrong" values first?

Hmm, thanks guys, I believe I've got it.

Damn, it will need one more version ... sorry for troubles and thanks for the help! I'll fix few more tiny problems and publish version ... not sure if today. In worst case tomorrow.

Hi Menion,

Unfortunately I have started to get error messages when starting a new recoring now: I cant really read the error, because the orange bubble message goes away too quickly, but it says something like: Connection lost to BT Device. It is only affecting my 2 identical Speed and Cadence Sensors (on different bikes of course).

Locus will not connect to that sensor anymore, also not in Sensor Manager. I have to remove the BT Sensor, and add it again and make the settings again. Then it works. When I start a new recording a few days later, it will fail again.

Not sure if whats wrong?

thanks,

MoosHam

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce this issue now. Not sure what happend in the meantime, but its working now...

Hello MoosHam,

that's what I hoped for :). To be true, problem with connection happend to me some time ago as well. Simple restart of the device solved this problem. Weird ...

Hello,

I had same problem 2nd time today. BT sensors do not connect any more, even in sensors manger. Deleting sensors and adding again solved the problem.

I will check if I can reproduce the problem.

Kind regards from Germany

Hello, I made some tests and I am able to 100% reproduce the problem.

Problem:

After device restart sensors (BT4 LE Wahoo Speed / Cadence / Tickr) do not connect again. Sensors manager shows searching ...

This happens after EVERY restart!

Solution #1:

1.1 Delete Sensors

1.2 Re-add Sensors.

--> Sensors are found and connnected immediately.

Solution #2 (the interesting one):

2.1 Press connect for each sensor you want to connect -> Sensors manager is searching ..., but not connecting!

2.2 Press + button in sensors manager

2.3 Choose BT4 and than ANY of the available options (Speed, Cadence / HR / Power) -> manager shows available sensors

2.4 Press CANCEL!!!

-> After this procedure all sensors are found and connected immediately

IMHO Solution #2 shows, that there is a probmnelm with sensors manager and not with BT-Sensors

Hope that helps to fix.

I am ready to help out with more testing / beta-Installation ...

Best wishes from germany

Hi Peter, Menion,

I had the same issue again.

Peter, I can confirm your workaround is working for me too. I hope Menion can find the root cause for this?

thanks,

Hello Oliver,

I am pretty shure he will figure out and solve. What kind of sensors do you use? Also Wahoo BT4?

Hi guys,

fortunately the same issue happens to me with the power meter as well and I think I've found a work-around for this issue. So next version ... thanks.

@Peter Schmitt: I use a Sigma R2Duo Speed and Cadence Sensor...

Hi Menion,

I am having a very strange issue now with the sensors. I use 2 identical BLE Speed & Dence Sensors (Sigma R2Duo). One on my eBike, one on my BioBike. During my last tour on the BioBike, I lost the sensor connection and couldn't connect to it anymore. So I removed it and tried to connect again. Didnt Work, Device didnt show up at all.

So a few days later I tried to connect it again (after a reboot of the phone, just to be sure). This time it would connect, but only show "invalid values".

Any advise how to fix it? The other (eBike) Sensor is working like a charm...

today it worked without a flaw... strange...
