Dynamic altitude constantly displays 0 metres

As the title says, the altitude displayed on the centre of the map is always 0, even when altitude data is present.
The problem has been present since I reinstalled the app.
The same problem 
This happens on all maps (LoMaps, Openandromaps) and at all locations (UK, Germany, Austria etc).
I have now de- and reinstalled the app because I'm having other problems (can't log in to subscription) so I can actually no longer see this problem because I haven't set it up yet.

Actually, could this problem be because of my other problem - not being able to log in to my subscription (is dynamic height only available with subscription?)?
