location of video point in locus 4

I want to see / save a video I saved on a map. How can I share the photos/videos with friends etc?

Hi Thomas,

add the video as an attachment to a point on the map (https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:points:add). Such a point can be shared via export to a KMZ file (https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:points:export).

Thanks, my goal is to share the photos/maps with friends using google photos etc so I am trying to find the location on my android phone .... Also share the route with pix if possible ....

If I can find the folder I can tell Google Photos to add them to my "library". I think I read Android 11 makes it harder to find those photos/videos?

Locus stores photos and videos in /Locus/data/media/ directory.

attached is a KML file with three types of files I added to a track while walking as a test, Audio, Photo and Video BUT I can't find those files on my phone!

The KMZ contains just an empty point with location, no attachments. Never mind. I'm just asking - did you add the files to the track as attachments or did you use the "add point" feature during the recording?

I used 3 add point (photo) audio and video as a test and still can't find those files! ?

thanks for any suggestions. I suspect they are hidden protected files?

No, photos/videos captured via Locus "add point" feature aren't protected, they are in the Locus/data/media folder

/Locus/data/media/ directory contains only photos/video taken via Locus - as a photopoint during track recording for example. If you add a photo to a point as an attachment, its storage doesn't chage - it is usually DCIM directory in the root of the phone storage.

which brings up a good point. Whats the current situation regarding storage of photos and accessibility with A12

it would be usefull to not have to change all the photo points if there location of photos is moved.

perhaps being able to have a custom default photo location

so if you had /extSDcard/photos/holiday2021/1.jpg for example as the path to a photo poi ( added as attachment)

and /extSDcard/photos/ as the photo folder setting

and then you changed to a pixel and moved photos to

/DCIM/photos/

then /extSDcard/photos/holiday2021/1.jpg would become /DCIM/photos/holiday2021/1.jpg

for all your photo points.

Theres been some recent photo poi/geotagged photos improvements that makes storing photos locally on phone more usefull
