Transparency slider with dashboard
Declined
I use the satellite maps as an overlay map on the LoMaps. I have the overlay switch in the right menu bar, which gives me quick access to the transparency slider. Unfortunately, this uses up a third of the smartphone screen. If I could wish for something: Make the transparency controller available on the map screen, e.g. via the dashboard. Or is there already a solution that I don't know about?
Hello Gerhard,
One-third, really? Adding to the dashboard system is really too complicated.
I'm worried there is not much I may do. What you see with the latest version in the Locus Map 4 is optimized to be as small as possible.
Do you need a slider to be permanently visible? If not, what is the problem with current solution as bottom dialog is visible only temporarily?

Hello Menion,
"Do you need a slider to be permanently visible?" yes that is a good idea.
"One-third, really?" look at the screenshot.

Do they need the slider ? Or do they always have a fixed value as an overlay ?

If you have a fixed overlay value, the idea would be to control it via Tasker. But for this Tasker would have to send the overlay value as intent. I don't know if this is possible.
Theoretically even a slider should work via Tasker. In Tasker you can put control elements over the screen. But there I know too little.

Hi guys,
control over the tasker may be doable, but the more I think about it, the more it looks to me as a complicated task with small benefits. I personally expect, and correct me if I'm wrong, that usually when enabling some overlay map, you spend some time at start finding ideal visibility value, but later you only toggle map on/off when needed. Even a half of the screen visible should be perfectly enough to set visibility as you need.

Hi Menion,
Hi Menion,
Hello Gerhard,
thanks for the idea. I was thinking about it a little more and I'm not convinced about benefit of the permanently visible slider for the overlay transparency. I simply believe that current solution is good enough for simple setup of required transparency. Thanks for understanding.
