Allow offline search for Street name without knowing City
When I am a foreigner travelling in a new country I may have no idea of the City name but do know the Street name, maybe hotel address. So allow the offline search to display all matching Street names and append the City name to results for more information. Yes of course the search may take longer, but better than the current situation of no results.
Example: as a personal test/ learning I try to find the location of Heathrow airport in England, purely with Locus, purely offline, no cheating with Google - too easy & perfect. I tried City name of London but there is no result of Heathrow or nearby Bath Rd. When I eventually find the airport (yes, gave up & cheated with Locus online+Google) & add a point then tap Get Address, the City is populated as Hillingdon. Now when I do an offline search for City = Hillingdon, only Hillington (163km away) is displayed in results. So clearly POI City is not same as offline address search City. Quite frustrating & almost useless in many instances.
Is this a question or suggestion? Both?
I think I may have suggested this years ago, but here goes again... as an alternative to the current alphanumeric sort of search results, allow display search results sorted by distance from current position on map - same as online "Search around cursor location". Then if I have a rough guess of location & I type say "Main", the first results are nearer by than some "Main Rd" 1000km away.
Dear Andrew,
I agree that the current offline search is not ideal. That's why I marked this idea as planned. But I also have to say that it may be a difficult task and I can't promise when it will be implemented. And also if it is even possible to implement it in the way you know from online search.
Thanks, Petr
