No more full-screen after the update

Not a Problem

Hello!

It seems to be a problem after the new update. It fails to enter the full screen mode. Before the update, there was no such thing. Now there are always two bands, one up (with the clock, battery and other things) and one down, with the phone controls. Having full screen is important to me, when I'm using apps that have maps.

Noooo !!!!!!!. This is just a bad thing let me say it. I recommend leaving the possibility to activate it at the user's liking. It is not possible to lose so much display space for the map. If I knew it I would certainly not have updated it.

I was hoping that this woulnd't be the case, because it crossed my mind that it might not be a bug after all. Well, that's it. It seems that I'll have to adapt to this new look. Locus still remains my favorite app, even with this change

I would like to support the view that continuing the fullscreen option for the map screens would be a better solution, the current state is not very satisfying.

It is of course nice that it is now possible to have a translucent status bar, as opposed to earlier Android versions. But still, for having the best possible map views in many of the outdoor situations that Locus is made for, a translucent status bar still disturbs by unnecessarily occupying screen space. I do not understand why it is a problem to keep fullscreen mode as an option to be switched on and off: It is very common that I need to adjust my apps to what works best on my device (either in app or system settings, in this case even both was possible before the update). But now all users must live with the lost space, even those where everything worked just fine.

To give my example: I do actually have a notch. But it is in the middle and did not interfere with any buttons at all. I display time and battery status in the top menu (when I do not hide all bars...) and this worked perfectly with the notch. Only when navigating, I could not read the minute. But this was only a minor inconvenience, far less than the space now constantly occupied by the status bar.

I would be very happy if you could reconsider your decision. Thank you a lot!

Hello.

Please return the ability to enable full screen mode. It was a convenient opportunity. Thank you.

Your experiments do not at all please users who expect the usual behavior of the program. You promised not to touch the functionality of the Classic version, but only to support it. So what's the deal? Why is it in 3.* version? Bring your madness to 4.* Don't touch the Classic!

This just doesn't make sense! I am sincerely sorry to disagree with you however I will think about renewing the subscription when it expires.

There is only a small border at the top. But this is also equipped with useful information. The lower border with the navigation bar can be removed. I have switched to gestures. At the beginning it was stupid but I got used to it and now I like it better than before.

photo

It does look kinda silly with so little screen left when you have all the commads shown. Gestures doesen't do much. And I don't like using them.

Hi guys,

did anyone test this app from Google Play?

Seems to work and should be an alternative solution in case of urgent need.

photo
1

Sure but the keyboard doesn't work !!! Then what solution is to use third party apps for a developer. If they do it I don't understand why you don't want to do it. Disappointed !

Hello Alberto, we fought with full-screen for many years and the result was never perfect, as described here.

The current solution is the most reliable solution, working without any hacks and drawbacks.

I am also missing the full screen mode very much.
But if the Locus team don't want to bring the feature back: what's about making status and navigation bars both fully transparent, instead of showing them in dark grey and nearly intransparent?
Feature request!

This is a carzy idea

Hallo Loudini, hallo Locus-Nutzer!

Disappointing that precious screen area lost to useless meta information...just not required. And it also appears the fullscreen based 'EXIT' button has gone too now...uggh!

Hello,

got the new "update" version 3.63 some days ago and I'm
absolutely shocked about removal of fullscreen mode.

Above (23 days ago) Zdeněk Kondler wrote:

"I am sorry, but functionality has more priority for us."

I am sorry, too, then if this would be the case you
never ever would have removed the fullscreen mode.

Please begin to think "functionality" from a user's
point of view, which for me in this case means
to have a "clean" map view without any obstacles
like Android bars, Locus UI elements etc.

Fullscreen mode is an essential feature and one
of the main reasons that I use Locus (Classic).

I always use fullscreen mode (with all Locus UI elements
hidden, too) and I never experienced any problem with it.

I completely disagree with what's witten here:

https://help.locusmap.eu/knowledge-base/article/full-creen

It's simply not true that "there are many devices with the
notch, which are unusable with fullscreen mode, because some
important UI elements are hidden behind the notch."

Yes, that may be the case if you configure the upper tool
bar to have "important UI elements", but there's no
need to do so.

I have a big notch (covering half the screen's width)
but I have absolutely no problems with fullscreen mode,
so its not "unusable" on my device.

All this reminds me at the beginnig of Locus 4 when the
developers decided, that some Locus UI elements (as the
center button etc.) cannot be hidden any more.
This decision was reverted later on users' request.

Please bring back fullscreen mode as soon as possible.
Who has problems with fullscreen mode can simply
not use it!

In between I have gone back to version 3.62 and will
simply use this as long as I do not experience any
problems.

10 minutes of applause !!!!!!

I don't need full screen anymore. It never worked properly on Xiaomi.
Suggestion for other users:
If full screen mode doesn't interfere with any other features of Locus. Then they could enable it again. After all, it works for many. Note When activating: Attention it does not work on all phones. No support !!!
But if it interferes with other functions in Locus, then it should not be activated again.

How to enable the full-screen option? Locus map 4.x

photo

I miss fullscreen. Especially in landscape mode the black bars are annoying.
Android calls thins Immersive mode and even has an offical documenation on how to do it, they even updated it yesterday (Hide system bars for immersive mode).
Perhaps it works now without buggy sideeffects? At least for some API levels? IF not: we will adapt and accept semi transparent, thin bars (and all use gesture mode from now on?).

photo

Settings, search for immersive, switch on.

photo

This isn't a solution !

photo

Brilliant!!!! 3.64 update...Immersive mode back on...Thank you Locus team.

photo

Really? How? I got mine updated but nothing is changed.

photo

Enable 'Expert' mode (hold main menu), then available in Settings.

photo

Works great on crDroid 7.23..Thanks again.

photo
1

Works it in 4.13 gold also ? I don't find it.

photo
2

Thank you! It's working. I didn't know that an expert mode existed.

photo
1

I don´t find neither in 4.13

photo
1

I have no ideea about Locus 4. Have you entered and activated the expert mode by holding on the left corner (menu)? If you did that and in the settings>expert settings you don't see an immersive mode, then there's nothing you can do.

photo
1

I know expert mode but i tjink in gold version immersive mode is not supported.

photo

Galaxy S10, Locus 4, immersive mode is working.

Second from top (UI section) in expert mode.

photo

This is my scrrenshot.

photo
2

Maybe this setting should no longer be hidden within the Expert settings. It is general enough to be visible to all users.

@Alberto: I have this one additional line. Gold, V 4.13.0

photo

Hi. My relase is 4.12.2.

So i'm waiti for upgrade. Thank you.

Why wait? The new one is already in PlayStore.

photo

Ok it work. Thak you !!!!

photo

Amazing - feels much better now without the top system bar always visible and wasting space!

Es funktioniert in Locus 4.13 und schaut wie folgt aus.

Very good ! Super Locusmap staff !!!!

photo

@ Locus Team: Thanks a lot for reconsidering! I usually show time and battery in the top control bar (despite I hide it most of the time :) ), and I really appreciate to be able to decide again when I want to see it. Happy holidays!
