Cannot hear Waypoints on guidance

Hi,
I have a list of waypoints and when I turn on guidance for a route they are ignored. I tried
1. Adding this as a lsit of points they show up on the map but they are completely ignored by the guidance.
2. Not adding them as points but merging points with important track but again I hear nothing. I just get a silent notification .
I just want to hear the points as I get close to them how do I do that? Sorry this might be obvious but not to me ;-(
