Start Google Maps in navigation mode vs route view

Hi,

many years ago the function -> Navigation apps -> Google Maps started with the route preview then once it was changed that the navigation starts immediately.

I'm still not happy with that because always I first have to stop navigation to get the overview.

Could you please add a configuration switch to configure how Google Maps starts? This would be awesome so everybody could decide for is own how Google Maps works.

Thanks Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang,

app currently send a simple request to "Navigate to" to all third party apps. If Google Maps changed it's behavior, we may do nothing with it. There is also no knowm method to me, how to define if Google Maps should start in "overview" or "navigation" mode, sorry.

What you may try is instead of this method, using a "Share > Other map apps" button. This call a little different system that should do what you need.

Hi Menion,

the possibility with share is not really what I am looking for it starts different and has a very lot of clicks. What I mean is a URL like these here:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=Stuttgart+Army+Airfield&travelmode=driving

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=Karlsbrücke+Karlův+most+11000+Praha+1+Tschechien&travelmode=driving

Here is the description of the URL definition by Google: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/urls/get-started?hl=en

Thanks Wolfgang

Thanks for the additional info.
Understand. You are correct there in the app is no direct command to Google Maps app. All are made over some generic calls. So I've improved list a little. Let me know in the next version if it works as expected (should be...).

Google maps app has this "overview" button at the right bottom side. Sort of a double splitting arrow. Then return to navigating by hitting the button namend "centering".
