apart from your idea
if these points are mapped in OSM they will be displayed depending on the map theme you use.
Here for example with the theme "Tiramisu

Hello All, we collect ideas for new points of interest. Once in a while we decide what to do with them and then perform batch update of the online db. Survey point is there too. Thanks.
