I have an Android 10 phone and moving to a Pixel with 13. I run Locus Map Classic. For a while I tried Locus 4, but deleted that. (One my new phone I am going to Locus 4 only.)
So on my current Android 10 phone I see both:
1. "root/Locus directory" and its subdirectories (with older dated files therein) , and
2. "root/Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro directory" and its subdirectories (with newer dated files therein). This is where my backups are going.
So I take it I can just delete the old "root/Locus directory" (which will save a lot of space)? I confirmed that everything I need is in the menion.android.locus.pro directories.
Thank you!
Hi Alan,
follow the instructions at https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:faq:move_to_new_phone. In step 2., install Locus Map 4 instead of the LM Classic.
The data of both apps are complementary.

Thanks for responding. I can't seem to get into a Locus directory on my new Android 14 phone. Are they not accessible like in Android 10?

Hi Alan,
yes, beginning with Android 11, the Android/data/ directory is blocked for writing data. It is necessary to move the data there via PC:
- attach your phone to a PC via USB cable and allow file transfer over it in the phone
- open a file browser in your PC and find the /Locus/ directory
- copy the /Locus/ directory to /Android/data/menion.android.locus/files directory (overwrite the new /Locus/ folder in there)
- disconnect your phone from PC and restart Locus Map
