Other maps do load. When I try to download a map from 4umaps I get an error server problem, try later, but this continues for days already. Any idea what to do? This is my favorite map.

Hi Joerg,

unfortunately, the 4umaps server is down and it is inaccessible by Locus Map. Neither 4umaps website can be accessed. Sorry for the inconvenience but we can do nothing with it - 4umaps is a third-party provider.

You may try LoMaps instead.

Looks like the owner of the service/domain has gave up therefore the map is no longer available.
Too bad as I too loved those maps.

We'll remove the map from our portfolio in the next app version.

Thanks. A pity that 4umaps are more.

Yes, but the competition is fierce. A lot of people use Openandromaps. And Locus also has LoMaps

Buongiorno,

Che fine hanno fatto le 4Umaps?

Non si vedono e anche il sito web risulta non raggiungibile....

Grazie e saluti

Nicola

Good morning, What happened to the 4Umaps? They cannot be seen and the website is also unreachable.... Thank you and greetings Nicola

Hi Nicola,

unfortunately, the 4UMaps project has been abandoned by its creator due to a lack of resources. More at https://sourceforge.net/p/mobac/forum/general/thread/106784dc1d/#230b.

Saluti

Nicola

It is truly a great loss…

They are well made maps, clear and with the paths immediately visible unlike vector ones,

I wouldn't know what else to use for my explorations

Have you thought about taking over the project or financing it and then making the maps available for a fee?

It would be a very welcome thing for all Locus users and not only...

Greetings

Nicola

Hi Nicola,
I'm sorry but we are definitely not taking over another project. We have too much work and plans with Locus Map and surrounding services and products. If you have any thoughts about improving our LoMaps, please define them as an idea at the helpdesk and let other users vote for them.

Hi, I just exchanged my mobile and have a 5Gb cache of 4umaps on my old device. As the server is down now, i wanted to use at least this one. tried to copy and paste the two files to the new device in the respektive folder, but it didnt allow me to create/move files with that name *.sqlitedb. Any idea of a workaround?

You might be victim of crazy Google file access restrictions.

What are the resp. Android versions in your case?

In any case I advise to use x-plore or TC, the most powerful file managers coping with (most of) these restrictions.

I also advise to put this database into the maps folder, not the mapsonline folder for the future.

Many thanks. X-plore helped, also with the maps folder location. Now I can at least use my former cache of 4umaps.

Because the guy who rendered it and provided it on his web server stopped this service.

Does Locus Map work on another solution to provide 4umaps?

4umaps no longer exists. You can use Lomap or Openandromaps.

At OAM there is a discussion about a theme that emulates 4UMaps.

That would be OAM vector plus that special theme, once the latter is released.

4UMaps was a very different animal: online raster map (potentially with local caching by an app)
