How to smoothen a GPX file

Hi,

I have recorded a hike and the recording is a bit jagged. I have used the "Update Elevation" tool to smoothen the elevation, however I don't seem to find a way to interpolate the missing path parts.

Please check the attached GPX file around "Pointe d'Allèves" (screenshot attached as well) where the recording is really lacking a lot of points (but this is visible almost all along the track), despite of the fact the terrain difficult and the speed was very slow.

Thanks for your kind help,

Valentin

Hi,

please get Locus Map permission for all-time access to the location and exclude Locus from all means of battery optimization so that the app can run in the background. Instructions on how to do it are summed up here: http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:gps_lost_fix_android6 or here: https://dontkillmyapp.com/.

This problem (missing trackpoints) looks like a problem caused by this.

Thank you. You are right. But now the GPX is the way it is and I was wondering if the same kind of function like "Update Elevation" exists to correct and existing GPX. I get from your answer that I have to tackle the problem before the GPX is recorded, but I have no (easy) way after it has been recorded, am I correct in my understanding ?

There is a function called Edit Track. There you can replace missing points or connect them with straight lines.

I have found another option : exporting the track as GPX, import it into Viking GPS, merging the trackppints, export the GPX, import the GPX back to Locusmaps.
