Opencyclemap very slow loading of new and cached tiles

I have 3.70.11. opencyclemap is very slow in loading of both new and old titles. New tiles take up to 1 minute to load. Old tiles can take up to 15 seconds when panning away and then back again will show "loading". It was not this slow last year.

Also, the icons like toilets, water, temples, are extremely small. So is the text. I looked in the settings and tried increasing the text or poi size but that didn't change anything. Is there a setting that I missed that can increase the size?
