Route Planner Bug in the Fusine in Val Romana area

Andrea Alessia Tavagnutti shared this problem 29 days ago
Not a Problem

If I try to go from point 1 to point 2 (see attached figure) or select whichever point on the path 513b from Rifugio Zacchi to Ponza di Mezzo the system does not recognize the path and makes the weird path in the attached image. For reference here are the coordinates of the Rifugio Zacchi (N 46° 27.552', E 013° 41.061').

The problem is present both on the app and on the web planner.

Have you checked whether the route is still available on OSM? The map could be too old and still show the route. It is also important to check whether the path has all permissions or is possibly blocked.

Route is marked as closed in OSM:

Closed according to sign at the bottom and https://www.cai-fvg.it/sentieri-cai-fvg/settore-5-alpi-giulie/s5-513b/

"Wegen Steinschlaggefahr unbrauchbarer Weg (08/29/2021)"

I have no idea how I should check on OSM. I see that on the CAI FVG page is identifyed as closed, however the page is probably not upadated since the path is perfectly (and more than) fine.

If you know for sure that the path is open and safe to use again, you can write a note on the OSM map. You don't need any OSM knowledge to do this. Simply right-click on the relevant position on the map (https://www.openstreetmap.org/) and then select "Report note/map error" and write a meaningful text. A mapper will then update the map if necessary (hopefully after checking it).

Ok, thanks

You can also make OSM Notes directly in Locus. In the Content panel: https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:mainscr_lpanel#osm_notes
https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:maps_tools:osm_notes
But it is only IO when a mapper edits it. About 4 days later, the router will also know. Maps only when they have been updated.
To do it yourself here is a link. Is in DE but you can have it translated: https://share.evernote.com/note/4edbf5bb-1452-bc98-e77d-f50e68c42905
We are happy about everyone who helps OSM to improve the maps and information.

Hi Andrea,

as others have mentioned, the route is closed according to https://www.cai-fvg.it/sentieri-cai-fvg/settore-5-alpi-giulie/s5-513b/. If the information is obsolete and no longer valid, we can change the access permission to the path (a few of us are OSM mappers). But you have to give us some local proof that it is OK and perfectly legal to do so.

If you check on the https://www.cai-fvg.it/sentieri-cai-fvg/settore-5-alpi-giulie/ferrata-via-normale-alla-ponza-grande/ on the same web page it says to use the 513b from rifugio zacchi and there is no note about it being closed. This is the only "official" information that I can provide.

Just a side note, it is not clear to me why if a path is temporary/permanently closed it is not choosable on the maps. Wouldn't it make more senso to warn the user that the path is closed but let it be selectable?

The router respects the access permissions given in the OSM database which is maintained by local mappers. If you need to use a closed path, you can use the manual mode to draw the route itself at your own risk.

As for the link you provided, it is not certain enough for us the access to the path 513b is permitted and the warning against falling rocks is revoked.

Thank you. Yes I know but the manual too do not calculate the elevation gain, which is pretty annoying.

photo

It doesn't calculate elevation gain on the web but it does in the app planner.

It doesn't, at least in my app.

The app interpolates the elevation gain from the offline elevation data. You can even set a custom interpolation step in the expert settings:

Maybe is a premium function, because on my app it doesn't work!

Yes, using offline elevation data is a Premium feature.

@Andrea: Another convenient option is to use the "reroute" profile from Zossebart. This routes via all paths and roads stored in OSM, regardless of access restrictions and closures.

You can download it here, then copy reroute.brf into the Locus/router/profiles2 directory:https://github.com/zossebart/brouter-misc/blob/master/reroute.brf

You can then add it to your profiles in the route planner menu.

Cool! I'll try that!! Thanks
