The "Sort by Nearest" option is indeed very useful. The reason it's not currently available in the web planner is that you can see both the content list and the map at the same time. The issue arises when you move the map—what should happen to the list? Should it reorder automatically? We’re not sure if this would provide the best user experience.

any move of the map triggering an automatic reorder? I would not do that. But definitely add a button "Re-evaluate".
So people can jump around the planet like crazy and once sat, they can enjoy a list of what is near.

PS: an open circle with an arrow I see in a number of apps and programs, hence it should be intuitive.
