Acer Chromebook connecting to Google Drive Error

When I try to access Google Drive from my brand new Acer Chromebook, I get an error during the authentication, saying "This file format is not supported", In German:

"Dieses Dateiformat wird nicht unterstützt: locus://oauth.callback/googleEx?code=4 /0Aean...Khte _9ILSfGIRTM_g&scope=email%20profile%20https://www.googleapis.com /auth/drive%20openid%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile %20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email&authuser=0&prompt= consent ZURÜCK"

This is the flow of thing I do before running into the error message:

  • Chosse Import to import a track
  • Source: Google Drive
  • Login...
  • "Choose Google account" dialog opens in Chrome browser
  • After choosing my Google account, the browser dialog says "Login to Locus World", then "Do you trust Locus World?"
  • After confirming by hitting the "Continue" button, Locus runs into this error: "This file format is not supported" ... "locus://oauth.callback/googleEx?code=4 /0Aean...Khte _9ILSfGIRTM_g&scope=email%20profile%20https://www.googleapis.com /auth/drive%20openid%20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile %20https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email&authuser=0&prompt= consent ZURÜCK"

This seems to be a similar issue like the one mentioned in https://help.locusmap.eu/topic/samsung-chromebook-connecting-to-google-drive-error

Hi Johannes,

Unfortunately, we don't have a Chromebook at our disposal for testing so we can't verify the problem properly (the app is developed for mobile devices - phones and tablets). Nevertheless, in some cases our users informed us that a simple change of default browser on your device might help, see for example https://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?topic=9115.0.

Hi Michal¸ indeed, with Firefox the Google Drive authentication for Locus Map is working as expected also on my Chromebook! Thanks a lot for the hint.

Just fyi: I bought a Chromebook mainly because of Locus Map. And I enjoy using Locus Map for planning routes on that 15" touch screen. A friend of mine inspired me to do so, so I am not alone... Check it out!
