Not a Problem

Switching maps from Map Manager or the button shortcut appears to be broken. Please play the screen recording at the link below showing trying to switch across 3 different maps with not effect:

I'm using version 4.27.1 on Android 14 (with update 1 November 2014).

Hi Nic,

have you tried restarting the app?

Yes of course, rebooted the phone too, no luck. Even cleared cache, no change. I've also switched back to default Hike & bike theme (from OS Map V4, which I like but reports a Whoops! on load ("A theme issue"—this may be a red herring). I never had any issue with any of this in V3 which I'd been using for years. Also removed Map shading for good measure.

Funny thing is, when I zoom out it displays the tiles with the correct layer, but this gets overwritten with the wrong layer milliseconds later.

It starts when the app opens. You can see straight away the Satellite layer (selected) being overwritten with the wrong tiles milliseconds later. This pattern repeats when the app redraws the map after switching theme.

Incidentally you can also observe the error reported on loading the OS Map V4 theme.

The link has restricted access, could you open it for me?

Nic, I need an exact description of the setup you use so that I can simulate the issue. You wrote about some "OS Map V4" theme - what is it and where can I get it? What default storage do you use for your maps?

Themes are a standard feature. The recording shows how. But again, it doesn't look like it's related to the actual issue with the map layer tiles.

The problem is really the map tiles drawing over the selected base layer, which is Satellite in my video (which I chose simply to differentiate clearly from the layer that obfuscates it).

The rest is pretty much out-of-the-box default settings, including for storage.

Please open the map content panel and check if the map overlay is active. If yes, turn it off.

Indeed... and since the option was hidden I hadn't thought of that. In fact, since I didn't know about this overlay option with Locus Map, I don't even know at what point it was turned on to be honest.

Problem sorted, thank you so much Michal for your help and patience. Another clear case of a PICNIC error 😁
