NEW BETA GROUP

Hi,

We are opening new BETA IOS group and inviting users willing to be among first to test selected features once in a while. Features which we don't have courage to release to everyone just after internal testing. Who's in? :)

The original BETA group was closed so if you want to participate in the new one, please send us new request here or via internal helpdesk ticket. It doesn’t automatically grant you free Premium features, we will send coupons only in individual cases if it helps us to get better feedback.

Once you will be granted to new BETA group, you will be able to install the BETA app builds from the TestFlight app. Don't participate if you want to use stable version and don't want to risk losing your data in the app.

MY LIBRARY V2

First reason to participate in new BETA group is testing of MyLibrary V2 (data manager of your tracks and points). We are aware that lots of you may be waiting for something else to deliver from us, like offline maps, but don’t worry - they are coming. However, MyLibV2 was long time planned also regarding our other platforms, it is complex revision one of our core functionalities and we had to synchronized it with Android & web development.

MyLibV2 allows you to organize your waypoints and tracks more freely, you can for example have both in one folder or nest folders deeper. It will also come with updated UI and is ground for planned functionality in the future. We are planning to release this to everyone in next 2 weeks and want to be super sure that migration of internal DBs within the app after its update will go smoothly for everyone.

The important bit is that who will now install BETA with MyLibV2 will not be able to go back to release version before we will publish new MyLib to public (planned within 2 weeks) . But that shouldn’t be problem and you will not be limited in any way. (If there will not be any unexpected issue or error.) The data migration will happen automatically after updated app is opened. Then, when you synchronize data with our cloud (for Gold users), you library and its UI will be switched even on web planner . In case you are synchronizing data even with Android app, you just have to be sure to have installed latest Android BETA. But in this case please install and start first the iOS BETA version once it will be available to you before Android BETA.

The feedback we now looking for:

  • That your data are all fine and folders are not lost or disorganized after the update to BETA.
  • (for GOLD Premium) That you succeed to synchronize you library with the cloud and got new UI of MyLibrary on web planner (and that all data are also there).
  • Let us know what you think about updated UI

Thanks!

Please include me also in all upcoming beta versions.

I really miss the functions of Android version and can’t wait to have minimum nearly the functionality of Android version. Especially the use of self created Maps.

Imported my waypoints and folders / favourites etc just fine. I did have a crash while the app was closed (iOS 18.4). Sent crash report, but otherwise stable and seems to be working great

Thank you all who did the test and provided some feedback. The last version from BETA is already in the process of gradual releasing to public.

For now, we don't have plan yet to release another BETA build. But when it will happen, all BETA members will receive notification from TestFlight about new build.

Not related to the beta but still

Please add “tap on map to show distance, height and azimuth” I think its even more important than offline maps.

Andrii, yep, some at least simple guidance is of course also big priority, but we chose offline maps to tackle first, so that is where our energy is now focused.

Please add me as well, just switched to IPhone but when going for a hike have to take along the 'old' android due to my customized app settings (dashboard etc) that keeps me more confident on the trail I am following.

IOS Lite version is really basic yet.

Thank you!

Hi Piero, I added you, but please don't expect that BETA will help you to have iOS Locus Map Lite less "basic" for now.

In fact, I have removed all builds from BETA TestFlight for now, because newest build is on App Store already. Once we will want to help with testing of some unreleased functionality, I will put there the build with description what to test again.

Thanks all for willing to help us!

Thank you!
It's a pleasure helping your team, if I can :)
Have been using Locus for years due to its reliability, features and maps (just a pitty that the great 4Umaps has been removed).
Hope the be able to use soon the nice maps I had on android as well on IOS.
Thank you for your work
Piero
