Longpress on one of the tracks in your folder to activate the selection mode. Select the desired tracks by ticking the checkboxes.
Go to tools at the bottom (icon ^ to the left of the three-dot menu), scroll all the way down to "Tracks" in the menu that opens and select "Merge tracks".

As far as I can see it is the same process as before. Maybe you did something wrong. Select, merge and you're done.
