External BRouter profiles not usable any more

Emmi shared this problem 2 months ago
Not a Problem

Locus Map Classic Pro is really brilliant. Especially in combination with BRouter. Now I would like to use the BRouter Gravel Routing profile and copied the .brf file to the Locus folder (Android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus/router/profiles2).

The profile is listed under "external profiles" in the BRouter settings in Locus, but when I chose this external profile, the selection is not stored but reseted to the prior internal selection.

I use Android 14 on my phone. The issues is reproduced by other A14 users:

Maybe you could fix this bug? Thank you.

Hi Emmi,

we are sorry for any inconvenience but Locus Map 3 Classic is entering the last year of its maintenance. That means, only the major issues disabling using the app will be fixed. Minor issues like this one will probably not be dealt with.

Since the end of March 2025, our team will fully focus on the development, maintenance and support of Locus Map 4 only. Thank you for understanding.

I assume this problem is the same as in Locus 4, so it needs to be fixed there anyway and it would be easy to fix it in Classic Pro 3 as well. It would also be a customer-oriented solution for those who have recently purchased Locus Classic Pro without knowing that the maintenance is about to expire. So how was I supposed to know that I was buying a dead cow?

You didn't buy a dead cow. You get LM4 silver as a replacement.

Just for the record: even if it is 'not a problem' for you, it is a problem for me as a customer! That's why I've reported the bug here, so that other customers can also benefit from the fix as well.

Hello Emmi,

I'm checking your reported issue and unfortunately, I'm unable to simulate it!

I've downloaded the external "Mtb-zossebart-hard" profile, and after changing the profile or even closing the app, the profile is still set correctly. I'm checking the code and see no reason for this behavior. I see only a solution on my side > creating a special debug version that will print why this happens. This is anyway quite a lot of extra work and this is a small issue compared to some other problems Locus Classic is facing due to low time investment. Sorry.

Ok, understood. There are no realistic option to fix this, what is a real pity.

As obviously a Gravel Profile is currently missing in the internal profiles and not capable of being integrated via external profiles (this bug): Could you please add a gravel profile in the internalprofiles instead? At best

Gravel m11n

Or at least the one coming with brouter

https://brouter.de/brouter/profiles2/gravel.brf

And the zossebart MTB profile on your screenshot would be very helpful as well.

Thank you!!

Locus Map 3 is a discontinued model. Nothing more will be added or improved here. Simply switch to LM4

Although I recognised your '¡Basta!':

Integrating a Gravel Profil would be very customer friendly and very simple to realize, to adress the fact that the external profile function is not working properly and as the app is still in the store.

There is nothing written of discontinuation and zero support.

Just a little hint from a customer who paid without knowing about zero support and bugs when buying it.

Hi Menion, do you think it would be possible to integrate a Gravel Profil in the Classic version to help with this Android 14 Samsung issue? Thanks!!

I have the same problem and I believe it was introduced with the latest update that was automatically installed on my phone last week (version 3.70.16). At least it worked fine for me until May 2nd. So saying you won't fix it any more while rolling out updates that break stuff is not acceptable. And it's by far not the first time that an update caused problems. Please provide a fix or I can't use the app at all. External profiles are the only profiles I can use.

Guys, give me some more info about it. I wrote that I've tested it and it works correctly for me. If I may simulate it, I may also fix it.

My installation:

- app in the /storage/emulated/0/android/data/menion.android.locus.pro/files/Locus

- routing files in the Locus dir Locus/router/profiles2

Here I have two *.brf files, and both are available in the UI and work as expected.

---

Just for your info, Locus Map 4 also supports the external BRouter app and the UI for parameters should match the parameters available also on the web https://brouter.de.

Update:

I installed the Locus update. No improvement.

Then I moved the brf- files to another folder and back again to Android/Data/.../router/profiles2 . Now it works. Crazy.

Might be worth a try for you other guys?

Thanks Menion anyway for following up on this!! Highly appreciated and seen!

Deleting the brf files from Locus/router/profiles2/ and copying them there again also fixed it for me. Thanks Tila :-)

😆 wonderful. I'm happy that I could help. What a lucky and random solution.
