Please allow the use of the system TTS engine. It is inconvenient because it is fixed to the Google TTS engine. Please allow the user to select it according to their preference.

This is happening on Android 15.

Hello,

there is no limitation on the TTS engine used in the app. Could you please post a screenshot of your app settings > Language & units > Text-to-speech settings? Here, it should be possible to choose active engine and the language of the TTS.

There seemed to be no problem with Android 14, but this problem occurred after updating to Android 15.

My friend's phone (Samsung Galaxy S25 Android 15) says that even though the TTS engine is selected as Samsung TTS, the voice comes out as Google TTS. For reference, I am using Galaxy Fold 6 (Android 15).

Hello Hak,

I'm checking currently functionality on two additional Samsung devices and on both, selection of Google vs Samsung TTS engine work correctly and without a problem.

I'm sorry, I currently do not have a solution. Everything used in the Locus Map is pretty standard and universal, and functionality should really work on all devices. Suggest double-checking your setup in the device and, optionally confirmation that TTS works correctly in any other application.

I'm using Locus Map 3 Classic. Since the installation of UI 7, the Locus tts engine (robot voice), differs from the system tts engine (Samsung). The "Do you like Locus?" test phrase is Samsung, the navigational commands are robot voice. I've tried all Android and Locus settings and even reinstalled Locus, but I can't get Locus to use the Samsung tts engine for navigational commands anymore.

Hello Frank, please check app settings > Navigation > Select voice. Do you have here "Text-to-speech" option enabled?

Yes, Navigation is set to text-to-speech.

In Language it says: com.google.android.tss

Strangely enough, the test phrase seems to be Samsung tts (nice), while the navigational commands are another tts (robot voice).

Hello Frank,

I'm sorry, but on two Samsung devices I've used, I'm unable to simulate this issue. In all cases, Samsung or Google TTS engines works correctly. If you find anything useful that may help me to simulate this on own device, please let me know. Thanks for understanding.
