LoMaps & other vector maps automatic loading doesn't work anymore

Hi,

I notice that recently, the automatic loading of vector maps doesn't seem to work anymore. While I have "Automatic map loading" enabled and have multiple adjacent LoMaps (Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands), they refuse to load when I scroll to that position of the map. I recorded a video to showcase the problem.

Extra info: I recently moved to a phone running Android 15 recently and I restored Locus from a backup, taken from my older phone.

Hi Auric,

w are sorry for the inconvenience. Could you please make screenshots of details of two neighboring maps that do not auto-load? The details are here:

Also, please tell us what storage you use for storing the map files. Thanks

Hi,

Included are the screenshots of the maps, as well as the screenshot of the location of the main directory, which is a private folder in Android/data on the device itself, not on an SD card

Hi Auric,

sorry for the delay. We have tested the issue but so far we haven't managed to replicate it. One last question - what themes do you use? Are they LoMaps internal themes or some external ones, like e.g. Elevate or Elements from OAM?

Hi, no problem and thank you for your continued support.

I am indeed using the LoMaps internal themes.

Is there any debug logging that I can provide to you to help debugging? I could try to reset the settings as well and see what happens. I'm just a bit reluctant in doing so because I changes so much settings over the years 😉but I still have my backups to restore so I could try that in order to see whether it has effect

We've encountered a similar problem with a peculiar cause... could you please test it? What text size is set in settings > maps > offline > text size when you dispay a map which doesn't display?

That setting is set to 125%.

I just try to set it to 100%, also tried 75 or 300 but I couldn't notice a change in the behavior (except fot the fact that the text sizes changed, of course)

OK, thanks. If you are still willing to help us solve this riddle, please do the following:

  • Download a special logging version from https://drive.google.com/file/d/1t93VUGTuwdXdYUH63CW9vf4wSdGt4YSt/view?usp=sharing
  • After installation, run the app and long-press the main menu button ( 65ab74f02671fb4a2ceb0db7c0510f6e )
  • Choose the "Log to file"
  • Select the "Log to file" and "MAPS(CORE)" category
  • Then close the app, wait for 10s, and run it again.
  • Try to replicate the issue (it will be logged this way)
  • After that, send me the logs which will be created in "Android/data/menion.android.locus/files/Locus/logs"

Thank you very much.

If something isn't clear, feel free to ask me.

Ok, this is what happened:

I downloaded the apk, installed it and ran it, then added MAPS(CORE) to the log, closed the app, opened it and scrolled over the map. The maps of other countries weren't loaded.

I closed Locus and went to Android/data/ but didn't have access to that folder. My phone isn't rooted. After trying with several applications, I decided to move the main directory of Locus to Android/media in stead, so that I could access the log files.

Guess what. The maps of other countries are auto-loading now...

The log file however contains the information from the situation when the files were still stored in Android/data so I uploaded them anyway in 2025-04-23.txt as it might be valuable for you to find a solution anyway

Thanks for the support and let me know if I can assist you for further investigation of the issue, I'll be happy to help

Thanks, Auric, for your cooperation. Unfortunately, the log didn't reveal the cause of the bad behavior so we have to wait for more similar feedback.
