Quick Map Switch Vs Locus Map Store
Need Answer
Hi there
Why is it that OpenTopoMaps are available to download via the Quick Map Switch function, but they aren't available via the Locus Map Store? It might be better if the same set of maps was available on Map Switch and in the Store. I only discovered the OpenTopoMaps by accident and they are excellent.
Thanks
Adam
I suspect you are using an "optimized" providers.xml, where you can put access paths to a lot of sources. Locus Map Store would require license agreements, I suppose, while your (or inherited or tweaked by that particular tweak app) edits of that xml are your responsibilty alone.

Hi Michael
Thanks very much for the rapid reply.
I have to admit I have no idea what a "providers.xml" is and whatever it is I definitely haven't "optimised" it.
Perhaps it's something inherited from the Locus Lite for IOS beta trial that I'm enrolled in? NB it's limited to 5000 tiles per day.
Anyway whatever it is, please don't change it as it's brilliant!

Hi Adam,
Asamm (Locus company, which I am not part of) does not have control over those providers.
Just to be safe, I'd copy that file (Locus root/mapsonline/custom to a backup location.
Cheers

Unfortunately my Pixel 8 doesn't allow me to access Locus files so I can't copy it. But it's good to know what's going on and I'll just have to hope the facility doesn't disappear in the future.
You've been very helpful and it's much appreciated

Thanks Michael

You can use a Locus settings feature to MOVE the whole Locus root folder to /Android/media/...menion.....
From there you can copy it :-)
Always BACKUP before such an operation ...
