Why does Locus access the location every so often, even though it is not being actively used?

Hello,

I use Locus Classic and noticed that the app accesses my location every few minutes to few hours, even though the app was only running in the background (it was not being used actively - the entire tablet had not been used between ~1 AM and ~11 AM).

Also, there was no track recording running either.

See attached screenshot of Android's log of the usage of the location permission.

This behavior stops when I actively close the app in Android's app manager. But as a user, I would expect Locus not to access the location if it is not needed, even if Locus is not actively closed by the user.

Is there a reason for theses accesses of the location?

Thanks! Kind regards

Andreas

Hi Andreas,

don't forget to turn off the app correctly by 2x tapping the back button on your phone. Plus, go to Locus settings > GPSsensors > turn on the option "Disable when app is hidden":
