Default Icons Vs. GPX Symbol Name Chart?

Hello,

Can anyone point me to a chart that associates the Locus default icons with their GPX symbol name?

I am doing some manual GPX file editing and would like to change some of the icons and need their GPX symbol names.

Thanks,

Steve

Hello

I'm not sure I can understand, what your goal is but you can even crate own icon pack - please see https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:advanced:customization:icons

Garmin Icons.

Show the supported (266) Garmin Icons triggered by the gpx sym > Import the JaWaWa gpx testfile

Locus Icons.

Show the supported (98) Locus Icons triggered by the gpx sym > Import the attached Locus gpx test file.

@0709 I had the Locus file but some of the categories in the GPX file didn't correlate with the ones in the Icon picker screen (see attached) and I wasn't sure if the file was current.

I am leaving for an Adventure Cycling tour next Sunday and ACA has now converted to RWGPS and retrieving their Services and POIs looses the icon type. So now I have 2 different POI files one from ACA (1000pts) and another from the internet (500pts) and I am manually assigning different icons to each file and turning them into "fake" routes so that they can be globally turned on/off via track select.

BTW, it looks like it takes a minimum of 2 track points before Locus will recognize a "track"

Thanks,

Steve

Roger Steve.

That misery with missing waypoint icons is easy to solve should a sender (RWGS -premium) offer this.

Import the example gpz file into Locus map 4 or in the gpx viewer app.

Locus map gives priority to show the Garmin Icons if the sym matches.

The gpx viewer app gives priority to the attached “custom” RWGPS icons.

Which GPX viewer are your referring to? Is it an Android app or website?

RWGPS does NOT play well with other programs/devices. They want you to exclusively use their app and so downgrade the experience if you export data off of their site. Same is even true of Garmin device support using the now ancient TCX and FIT file interface. However, in this case there may not be anything newer?

I think that ACA used to use either MapSource or Basecamp to maintain their digital route libraries. Now they have moved completely to RWGPS for ease of use at the expense of their digital data users. Whats worse is that they now have 2 separate route databases. One corresponds to their paper maps and includes POIs. The other is for their guided tours which have the daily endpoints but NO POIs.

Attached is a sample route that you get with their PREMIUM "experiences" level of export from RWGPS. It combines the tracks and POIs into a single file with NO waypoint icons.

Of course, if ACA wanted to provide POI icons they could always go in programatically to the RWGPS API and extract the RWGPS POI icons and convert them back to Garmin.

Hello Steve,

may I ask simply: you need a list of internal icon names, so you may use it in your customized GPX file?

Yes, this is what I was looking for. However it would also be good to have the icon graphic next to the name.

@Steve L

Import the Locus 98 Internal Icons.gpx file into a Locus points Icons folder and find all the icons with their associated sym.

DOH! Got it! Actually I loaded the file and Locus switched to the map view and displayed all of them in a line and tapping on one would reveal the GPX name. Looking at the points in the points library is MUCH easier!

Thanks,

Steve
