Guidance kills GPS
Not a Problem
As soon as I enable guidance, location information becomes unavailable.
Steps to reproduce:
1) enable location services on the phone and in Locus, make sure that it works before.
2) enable guidance on any point
3) observe that location information is gone
Re-enabling GPS on Locus doesn't do anything. I have to restart the phone to get GPS back.
Is this a known bug? It is 100% reproducible on my Shift8 phone.
Hi Manfred,
please get Locus Map permission for all-time access to the location and exclude Locus from all means of battery optimization so that the app can run in the background, see http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:faq:gps_lost_fix_android6. Also, switch Google Services assisted location off in Locus settings - GPS&sensors.

Indeed, giving Locus all-time permission for location did the trick!
That raises a different question, though. Why does it need that permission? Does guidance have to be active when the app is not in use? I would have expected the "when in use" permission to be enough.
Cheers, Manfred

On some devices, unfortunately, the operating system considers the mode "when in use" only when the app is actively used with the screen on. When the app runs in the background, it is considered as "not in use". Therefore, it is better to give Locus Map the permission "all the time" so that it can run correctly also in the background, during guidance, navigation, track recording etc.
