Open locus from different app and move to location

Solved

I have a consistent issue with Locus while opening location links from other apps.

Specifically we use Divera 24/7 (an app for alerting fire & ems personell) which always gives a location button that opens map apps.

Whenever I use locus as app to open the location, locus just opens to the default screen.

Doing the same but using Locus classic as map app, the curse moves to the correct location and adds a new poi which is perfect.

Similar issue when sharing the location via a share button from Google maps: locus opens and moves to a completely false location (might be 0,0 degrees).

I'm using android and tested this on a pixel 8 and pixel 7 pro with android 16.

Any ideas what I can do?

Hello Nico,

thanks for bringing this problem up. I've already received few bug reports, but was never able to find out the reason.

After a little more testing, I believe I've found possible reason. So check please next app version (2nd half of the August) and let me know if problem persist.

Hi Menion,

I have tested the latest update and while it seems to be working when sharing a location from Google maps, opening a link from Divera still only opens locus without showing a location. One thing that might be relevant: it's usually not an address but a location somewhere without any street names etc.

Let me know if can send any logs or anything else to narrow the issue down.

Hello,

it is hard for me to test it properly, because mentioned "Divera 24/7" app require some kind of paid account.

Please, follow this:

  • Download the beta version from here: http://bit.ly/lmVersionsTest
  • After installation, run the app and long-press the main menu button ( 65ab74f02671fb4a2ceb0db7c0510f6e )
  • Choose the "Log to file"
  • Try to replicate all your issues (it will be logged this way)
  • After that, send me the logs by tapping a long-press on the main menu again and choose a "Report bug" option

Thank you very much.

Hello Nico,

it helped, thanks. Seems, there is an incorrect character in the shared text. Anyway I've improved it, so it should work with the next app version (probably Beta again at friday).

Just warning, I was not able to simulate this issue, so in case, it won't work as expected, I would ask for a testing Divera account. But I believe, it won't be necessary.
