Buddy tracker & route planner

Marc Van Impe (VIM) shared this problem 29 days ago
Not a Problem

On 2 different phones on Android (one on 14, the other on 15):

The screen switches off with a loud click every time I open the route planner while buddy tracking is on. The same happens when buddy tracking is switched on or off during planning. The same happens again regularly during planning of a route. Conversation is off.

Resumes normally. Very annoying.

Sorry, but both are disabled. As is live chat.

Then have a look at settings > GPS&sensors > Position acquired/position lost notifications and if neede, turn them off or change the notification sound:

Modifying the sound does not help. Switching the notifications off does help apparently.

But that can hardly be a good solution, does it?

And it is not just the combination of route planning and body tracking but simply switching the tracking on or off causes the crash if those notifications are on.

If you encounter the app crash, please follow the instructions in this article: https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php?id=manual:faq:issue_reporting. Thank you. Unfortunately, I'm not able to simulate any crash when GPS notification is on during route planning and live tracking.

Unfortunately the crash happens regularly by just opening the app and/or by switching to it from another app, even with Buddy tracking, route planner and notifications off. I was too soon to jump to conclusions.

I have just sent a mail with my user ID as described after such a crash.

After many tests and mails with Michal of Locus, we have concluded that how proximity sensors work on certain phones may interfere with 'Gesture control' in Locus. Switched gesture control off. No more sudden screen turn-off's.

Will use double tap to activate during hiking and cycling now as it has always worked better on my phone anyhow.
