"All geocaches" filter does not show ALL

Solved

This has bugged me since the feature was introduced. "All geocaches" filter on the live map does NOT show

* Your own caches

* Other caches you've found already.

This breaks the meaning of ALL in English. All should mean everything, absolutely everything. Please.

Thank you.

Hi,

unfortunately, I'm not able to fully reproduce this issue - I'm not a cache owner and nobody else from our team. But I can't reproduce the issue with found caches either - they are displayed:

^ Interesting. I double-checked. It does happen reliably to me, on both my active devices, 4.31.3 and various earlier versions. I can toggle back and forth between filters including the non-editable "All geocaches".

If this somehow only affects me, then I can easily work around it.

EDIT: It looks like the smaller "All geocaches" text below the filter selector, as seen in both my screenshots, is shorthand for "All geocache types", regular, multi, etc. I wonder if this exact same concept and code are behind the "All geocaches" predefined filter ... with a misleading label and some unfortunate assumptions.

Hi,

I finally managed to simulate the issue - I had a few "found" but not uploaded logs of geocaches in the log manager and the app displayed them on the map. When I deleted them, the found caches were filtered out.

The "All geocaches" filter has been renamed to "All but found." Please check it in the next app version.

Might I suggest, "All but found or owned" in that case? It would be more accurate.

(...or changing the functioning to mean "all", which might have been the original intent.)

Thanks for the quick response. Cheers.

Thanks for your suggestion, but we'll leave it as it is now.

- "All but found or owned" is too long for the space available for the filter name

- "All geocaches" is targeted at those who go geocaching. Most of the GC players simply don't need the found and owned caches on the map. "All but found" is a generally acceptable compromise.

Souhlasím s Viajero P. pokud tam je pevně daný filtr Všechny keše, tak ať jsou vidět opravdu všechny, tedy nalezené i založené, jinak pevně daný filtr postrádá smysl, protože to co jste tady vymysleli jako kompromisní řešení je nesmysl, jelikož takový filtr si nadefinuji sám a nepotřebují pevně daný, který v této "kompromisní" podobě akorát zabírá místo.

I agree with Viajero P. if there is a fixed filter All caches, then let them really be visible, i.e. found and created, otherwise the fixed filter is meaningless, because what you have come up with here as a compromise solution is nonsense, since I define such a filter myself and do not need a fixed one, which in this compromise form just takes up space.

Try the latest Beta. It contains both options:

- All geocaches (incl. found and owner's)

- All but found

Seems to work as intended, thanks.

If space permits, it would be more clear if the second option said, "All but found / owned". Then it would clearly match the behavior. Cheers.
