Openandromaps missing after upgrade to Locus 4
Answered
I upgraded from Locus Classic to Locus 4 (pro).
I had several maps from Openandromaps installed in Classic. I do not see any offline map in Locus 4.
All other data was migrated successfully.
What shall I do to find the maps?
I'm on Android 16.

Hi Wolfgang,
apologize that I cannot give a clear answer, I don't have Android knowledge (but willing to learn). I hope the following helps:
Checking with X-plore, I see:
Android/data: no access
Android/media: two folders menion.android.locus (owner Locus 4) and menion.android.locus.pro (owner Locus Classic). Both have subfolders maps and mapsVector, all empty.
I installed Locus 4 from within Locus Classic, which guided me to the Play Store.

Hello Marianne
run LM4
settings/Backup&filesystem/File system mansger/set main directory
if LM4 is installed on Android/media
copy your maps via USB e.g. LM3>PC>LM4

Thanks for the hint. Both LM versions have their main directory in Android/data. This explains why the folders you show in your screenshot are empty on my device.
Copying manually won't work in this case.
Is it a good idea to move he main directory to Android/media? What are the consequences?
Is it easier/better to simply download the maps again from Openandromaps and remove the old ones (to free up memory, I have quite some maps)?

I have been using my new VIVO X200FE for two weeks and have installed Locus on /media. This gives you full access to the files even under Android 16.
I would recommend switching to the access method described above.
You can then save your maps manually or have them reinstalled directly from OAM, giving you the latest map version.

Ok, I switched to /media an downloaded the maps anew from OAM.
This is resolved, thanks for your support.

A hint to the Locus team: pls. give up installs on Android/data and make Android/media the default. This /data limitation is a regular source of frustration and troubles.
Cheers
Michael

Today /data is a proven mess.
To not leverage a better alternative is throwing away a period of peace of mind for your users and your team.
If Google screws up again, you would not end up worse than now.
