Issues sending tracks to Garmin Fenix 8 from Android Phone
Hi everyone,
I’m running into problems when trying to send tracks from Locus Map on Android to my Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED and I’m not sure where to start debugging the issue.
Setup
- Phone: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 (Android)
- Watch: Garmin Fenix 8 AMOLED
- Apps:
- Locus Map on Android
- Locus Map for Garmin installed on the watch
- Garmin Connect installed and working normally
Problems observed
1. When starting the Locus Map app on the watch, it briefly shows a Bluetooth error message. After a moment it seems to recover and the app continues.
2. However, when I try to send a track from Locus Map on the phone to the watch, nothing happens on the watch.
3. The Locus app on the Garmin device does not start or react when I attempt to send a track.
4. Garmin Connect itself otherwise appears to be functioning normally.
Things I already tried
- Resetting / reinstalling the Locus Map Garmin integration on the Android phone
- Restarting the watch and phone
- Checking Bluetooth connection (watch is connected and syncing normally with Garmin Connect)
At this point I’m unsure whether the problem is related to:
- the Locus Map Garmin integration
- Bluetooth communication
- the Locus Map app on the watch
- or possibly Samsung / Android background restrictions
Questions
- Has anyone seen similar behavior with Fenix 8 + Locus Map?
- Are there logs or diagnostics I can check on Android or on the Garmin device?
- Is there a recommended step-by-step way to debug the connection between Locus Map and the Garmin Locus app?
Any suggestions on how to narrow down the issue would be very helpful.
Thanks a lot!
