Projection Problem

Hi,

I noticed that WMS maps with EPSG:4326 coordinates can be re-projected to the default map projection (EPSG:3857). Can I also use EPSG:4326 coordinates in a custom online map, or am I limited to only the Mercator projections specified by the "type" tag?Any other projection(like lcc、albers、stereographic、bonne) supporting re-projection(exception 4326).As I know,AlpineQuest support all above projection(layer re-projection),and I can freely define or modify projection parameters, including the origin, standard latitudes, central meridian, and so on.

And about the new feature "invert axis orientation" of wms1.3,can it be supported?

Hi,

I'm sorry, but I'm not completely sure what you are trying to achieve. I assume you want to add a WMS map as an online map using a custom providers.xml file, correct https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php/manual:advanced:customization:online_maps

If your goal is simply to add any WMS service, please use the standard WMS manager instead:

Menu > Map manager > WMS/WMTS tab > + (Add) > Add WMS URL

The custom online map configuration is intended only for tile-based services that follow a standardized tiled scheme in Web Mercator projection.

Regards
Petr

Key points of my question:

  1. While using it, I noticed that WMS maps can use projections other than Web Mercator (such as equirectangular projection), and reprojection is applied when overlaying them. So I’m asking: “Can custom online maps also use other projections (like equirectangular, conic projections, etc.), or are they limited to Web Mercator?”
  2. What projections are specifically supported for WMS maps and custom maps? Based on what I currently know, custom online maps only support Web Mercator, while WMS additionally supports equirectangular (equidistant cylindrical projection). Are there any others?
  3. The WMS 1.3 standard swaps the order of longitude and latitude in the BBOX parameter. Can Locus automatically recognize and adapt to this?

1. To be honest, I’m not aware of any online raster map service that provides data in a non‑Mercator projection. Locus Map always displays online maps in Mercator.

2. WMS layers are reprojected to the default Mercator projection when displayed in Locus Map

3. WMS 1.3 should work correctly. If not, please send us the WMS link and we will check it.

BTW: If you need to display any WMS or online map in a different projection, please take a look at our second app, Locus GIS. In this app, you can set any EPSG code as the project Coordinate Reference System (CRS). The online map and WMS layers are then warped to the project CRS (if the WMS CRS differs from the project CRS).
