Track highlighting not perfectly visible

Solved

With the new/current highlighting of a track in 4.33.0 for Android I cant really see or distinguish tracks anymore. The selected track used to show in yellow with arrows pointing in the tracks walking direction. Now it's blue (for me same as the track style itself) with a slighty white border. If I have more than one track in a place, there is no way of telling them apart even though one is highlighted. Is this getting fixed? Can I change the highlighting color/style? Do I need to change the base color of all my tracks so it doesn't match the highlight color?

I think keeping the line color is a good idea. The yellow was hard to see.

What’s missing, in my opinion, are the direction arrows—they’re very important. But I’ll admit that the white border isn’t quite ideal.

Solution: Show the arrows when the line is highlighted. And maybe use a different color for the border.

It wasn’t always yellow before; instead, it was the complementary colour of the line colour used. So it was only yellow if the line colour was blue. This wasn’t always ideal, as some line colours were too light and didn’t stand out well against the background.

In my opinion, the solution is better now, but it’s not perfect in every situation either. For example, the custom border of a line now always turns white when highlighted. If you set a line colour with a white border yourself, the highlighted line looks practically the same.

I don’t know if there will be any further improvements. I can live with the current approach. As I use different line styles, I may change a few of them so that they are more easily recognisable when highlighted.

I agree, I don't mind the different or missing complementary color so much, although yellow was very convenient for me to see on the watch. But the lack or "invisibility" of the directional arrows is a bummer. I'm currently on a tour where the track sometimes crisscrosses itself, and I have to fast-forward the tracking points every time I'm at an intersection in order to find out which way to turn. I know, there might be a different solution to this particular issue, but I would rather like to see my directions at a glance instead of having to interact with track and map.

It’s true that the fact that directional arrows are no longer visible when track is highlighted can sometimes be a drawback.

For now, the only option is to define the line style with an arrow pattern straight away, if that’s important to you.

I couldn't work out what was happening at first, but then noticed a very small white border by the selected track. Although not perfect, the colour inversion worked better. Perhaps this could be yet another option? Direction arrows would be really useful as well and I can't see any downside to having them.

While on the subject, at some previous version, a track selected and viewed from My Library would always be highlighted, but now it is not - making it difficult to see the track you want. Can this feature be restored please? It is easy enough to deselect it if you don't want it highlighted.

Hi,

the color inversion mode for highlighting routes has been removed because it changed the defined style of the route, which is unwanted in many cases. Therefore, we added the white outline instead. However, the missing arrows were an unwanted side effect, so they will be fixed in the next app version.

Maybe you could add an option to define/change the highlighted border colour? White is often hard to see.

This only highlights a selected track/route. For navigation, you can choose a far better visible style, see https://docs.locusmap.app/doku.php/manual:user_guide:functions:navigation:settings#line_style.
