Is old L3-Elevation profile gone forever?

Hello,

in Lo3 I intensively used the Elevation Profile + slope in %, which had some shortcomings but was extremely helpful in MTBing in many situations.

Now in L4 this old EP suddenly seems to be gone!? What a pity!

The new EP, which I see on the lower part of the screen after tapping the track has several improvements compared to the old one (e.g. the scales), but it is just too small, as a lot of my valuable screen estate is used for information, which is of no interest for me in most situations and which is partly a constant forever for the entire track (like length, time, date, name, ...)

My favorite would be something like the old EP on the same screen with the map and track, zoomable in x-direction with two fingers and with maximum space for the diagram. This should be permanently displayed togehter with the map as an option (pin).

Does it make sense, to make this a suggestion for a new feature?

Kindly yours
Werner

Hi Werner,

the elevation chart is not gone. It is displayed in the track/route detail panel, in a dedicated chart screen (zoomable with two fingers) and it can be displayed in a dashboard over the map.

I also find this a real shame it's gone. I used the zoom function on the elevation profile at the bottom of the map scree ALL the time! You need to be able to see the map and profile together as you zoom. Like it used too. PLEASE bring this functionality back.

"I used the zoom function on the elevation profile at the bottom of the map scree ALL the time!"

- could you please send a screenshot of Locus Classic with this feature? Thank you.

Actually!! Turns out, I was wrong. I've just checked on an older version 4.31.3 and you can't actually zoom the elevation profile under the map screen. Having just played about with the old version, I think my issue is that the usability of the new elevation profile and the way it zooms and easily flicks back and forth to the map view is much better. You can also see your current position on the profile and the point you clicked on the map. This is especially useful to see what the profile looks like between you and a point. Eg is there a bike mountain between me and the cafe.

Is there a way to remove the other profiles like speed and slope and also to add my location to the chart.

Ps I have been using locus maps for 4 years and for 35000km of cycling round the world!

Thanks for the help.

"Is there a way to remove the other profiles like speed and slope and also to add my location to the chart."

- return to the route detail panel. Here is just one graph, displaying also your position when you navigate the route:

But only when you navigate the route? This is where the difference is. This used to work without having to navigate. Which I really do because it consumes too much battery. And then does t allow to to plan when you are stationary.

"Consumes more battery" is interesting news for me! Certain?

But I don't navigate either. I found: Sometimes (very complicated situations) the navigation cursor showed me the location, where locus thougt, I shoud be and not exactly where I was!

It also works when you don't navigate the route. Tap the route on the place you want, and it displays on the graph:

Thanks for helping with this.

But it doesn't show my location on the elevation profile.

Tom, and what happens if you tap your location on the map?

I can't click location while the elevation profile is displayed. It's under the panel.

Your location is in the middle of the blue circle. I can see it so you see it too. Or you can shift the map.

This is the old way. Current location and the point clicked on the map displayed at the same time on the profile.

Looks great!

Why is the slope missing?

Could you add the distance (and possibly total ascent) ahead, which is more important (to me) than the distance behind me?

To me the text between graph and map is of no interest in 99,5% cases! Why not hide it behind an i-buton?

Is the graph designed to stay permanently open, taking 1/3 to 1/4 of the screen hight? That would be almost perfect!

BTW: I'm a cyclist riding typically 30 to 130 km a day or trip on ATB or touring bike.

And I am a great admiror and fan of locus! Thank you for your good work!

Kindly yours

Werner

Werner, try the latest beta version (https://bit.ly/lmVersionsTest). An option to put the chart above the statistics has been added.

However..... The beta version keeps crashing! So not entirely useful. Hopefully the next update will include this. How do we get this flagged to the developers.

The new elevation profile features on the latest beta release are great.
