Locus / Brouter : Rd5 version?

I know that Locus is having its own Lorouter offline and it is downloading its Rd5 files.

But I sometimes need/want to use Brouter inside Locus.

Latest Brouter Rd5 files seems incompatible with Lorouter and vice versa (Brouter can't use Locus Rd5 file).

Isn't there an incompatibility here, please?

Can Locus download Rd5 with version 11 instead of 10? šŸ¤” Or Lorouter really incompatible?

Thanks

Hi Mick,

at the moment, LoRouter can read Rd5 version 10 and BRouter reads version 11, so they are incompatible in both directions. The decision on whether the issue will be considered hasn't been made yet.

Hi all, a bit of explanation: The land features Locus recognizes are different than Brouter's list of known features. Locus sees winter cross-country trails and can plan a route using them. Also Locus has a concept of warnings (like ford, difficult terrain e.t.c). That is the reason Locus is currently (AFAIK) compatible with Brouter in terms of routing profiles, but not in terms of underlying routing data.

Hi Radim, thanks for clarification.

Is there somewhere some explanations about differences between versions of Rd5?

The key difference is this "lookup" file: https://github.com/asamm/brouter/blob/asamm/locus-routing-profiles/lookups.dat. Both routing engines store properties of paths in .rd5 files as numbers - line numbers in lookup file, not the key-value pairs from OSM data. Once these reference lookups tables diverge (for differences in data needed), compatibility in terms of .rd5 files is gone forever.
