Buying map updates

Need Answer

Hi there I had an old version (v7) of a hiking map of Menorca and discovered recently that a newer version (v8) was available on the map store. I bought the new version but had to pay the full price. Afterwards I wondered if I had actually done the right thing - was I right to pay the full price to get an update of a map I already had, or should there have been a discount?
