Live Location

There are 3 ways to share your location.

1. My Current Location:

This is for sharing your location once.

2. My Live Location:

This is for continuously sharing your location.

3. Live Tracking:

This is also for continuously sharing your location.

What are the differences between options 2 and 3? Or is option 2 redundant if I use option 3?

One more question: Some of my friends don’t have Locus. They can’t use these features. But most of them have Google Maps—maybe Garmin or Komoot, too.

Is there a way for a friend to share their location via Google Maps so I can track them live on the map in Locus?

Hi freischneider,

the difference between 2 and 3 is in whom you share your location with:

My Live location - With this, you can share your location in real time with anyone to whom you send a URL leading to a microsite where your location is displayed on a map.

Live Tracking - here you share your actual location continuously in real time in two ways:

- publicly - with all other Locus Map users who start Locus live tracking in a public group or anybody who visits https://live-tracking.locusmap.app/online-trackers/.

- in a closed group of Locus Map users who share location mutually via the app. You can also view the group on https://live-tracking.locusmap.app/online-trackers/ when you insert the group key code.

My Live location/Live tracking is now in a process of overall rebulding. starting with the infrastructure update. It seems likely that both will be united in one multi-purpose feature in the future.

- this is not available at the moment and I have no information this is planned or even technically possible
