Accuracy problems at low speed

Solved

Hi, I have installed Locus Pro approximately 6 months ago and everything used to work all right. But for last couple of months I have noticed a problems with accuracy of my GPS device (Samsung Galaxy S advance). The problem always occures at low speed (5 kph) when I walk and look for caches. A direction cursor (arrow) changes its way dramatically to all directions, reactions slow down and I can`t get closer to chache for less than 20 m. I use walking profile, which used to work fine until now. This problem disappears, when I move faster (more than 20 kph).

The other thing is, it automatically logs me off my geochaching.com profile and I have to log on again at least twice a day. This problem has occured recentaly too.

Otherwise I am very happy with this aplication

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi coccos,

not sure if I can help.

Typically, with higher speed Locus uses information from GPS for calculating the direction. With low speed this isn`t useful due to jittering of GPS information. Then the hardware compass should be used.

Could you check here http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu... that you have

- use hardware compass active

- autochange active

- speed value (play around with it, maybe in your case choose initially e.g. 20km/h and then decrease as long as you get reasonable direction information)

The geocaching stuff is off topic here but there was an update recently.

Please check here in case you use GC4L:

You also have a Samsung, perhaps these solve your problem

Do you use GC4L?

@question 1: does your phone have a hardware compass?

What are your settings under Menu/Settings/Sensors and then the top three items:

Use hardware compass

Auto change

Speed value

Because at 20 kph the gps compass is good enough but not at low speeds or at standstil.

Hello guys,

thanks for your help! It seems the problem was sorted out by setting orientation filter to no filtration. I used to play around with it and set medium filter some time ago and since that time the problem probably arised :-)

I also try the application, which Wolfgang mentioned..
