Add photos afterwards to tracks through GPS information
Answered
Is it possible to add photos to a track which are made outside the locus app (with the normal camera app) without having to search for the coordinates for yourself?
The GPS information is already saved in the photo, so it would be really handy if locus could extract this information and put a point with the photo to the according coordinates in the track.
Hi Daniel,
it's not possible to add photos to tracks but to their waypoints yes. As an attachment. Faster way how to get photos on map, however, is to 1) copy your photos to your mobile, 2) in Locus, go to the left content panel (blue tab on the bottom left screen edge) > Map layers > Geotagged photo > find the folder with your photos and confirm.

Hello Michal,
thank you for your response! I just tried your suggestion but this is displaying all photos from my phone on the map, as I did the photos I want to add with my normal camera app. So the photos are in the normal camera folder.
I think a current workaround is to make the photos I want to add to the map within the locus app.
But then the track recording has to be running right?
I thought of the situation when you get to your destination and finish the track recording. There you make some photos and want to add them afterwards to the track/waypoint/map inside locus.
Or even if you make some photos outisde the locus app, currently it is not possible to choose some photos of your gallery to be added with the method as you have described above?

Hi Daniel,
you can add waypoints with photos to a track in two ways:
1) during track recording
2) in route planner - open the track in route planner, tap the place where you want to add a waypoint, create a "shaping point", change it to via point (more at http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php?id=manual:user_guide:tracks:planning#add_via_points). Save the track, tap the via point on map and add photo as an attachment to it.

Hello Wolfgang,
thank you for your response. But this is not what I was looking for.
I've used another routing app (Komoot) before I switched to locus.
I'm really happy with locus currently although I have to discover all the functions first.
The only thing I'm currently missing is the function to afterwards add a photo to a ride I have made.
It was pretty straightforward. Just add the photo to the route and it was also automatically displayed on the map where the photo was made (see attachment).
If the photo was made in the locus mapp (add point (photo)) then everything is alright, but iIf the photo was not made in the locus app (what might happen), then you have to search for yourself where you have made the photo and add it to the route. That is a bit inconvenient.

Hello Daniel,
what you want isn´t possible inside locus yet.
On forum still are a few ideas describing this wish........
So i point you to Geosetter
- create a folder on PC
- copy "track photos" from Locus/data/media/photo to PC folder
- copy geocoded "track photos" from alternative camera to PC folder
- export your track as .gpx and copy it to PC folder
- start GeoSetter and navigate to this folder
- activate track and all photos, while export dialog you can select/modify several details. e.g. title, show point as thumbnail aso > export to Google Earth .kmz
- import this .kmz with locus/check "merge points and track"
have fun.

Hello Wolfgang,
thank you for your detailed description. I think this is too much effort for me to get the pictures on the tracks.
Perhaps some day this function will be implemented in locus. :)

Hi Daniel
this can now be done using the tasker locus plugin, but long winded.
move all the photos to a folder
create track, in track share to geotag jpgs task
save to correct folder
show geotagged photos layer
zoom in to your track, click each geotagged photo, create point from it, this will create photo POI, put them all in a temp folder
edit track, add waypoints using the copy from method, use the above POI folder as source, do one at a time
