Add POI search to default screen
I am a technical/computer kind of person, but it still took me a while to work out how to search for things like a specific cafe name that I knew was nearby and was labelled on the map somewhere.
It took me a while longer to work out that POI search can be added to the home screen with a long press on the default top bar.
People like me will find it eventually, but it seems to me that the most common request from a lot of people would be to search for things that are labelled on the map. So can I suggest that the POI search should go on the default screen?
On a related note not everything on the map can be found via search Like the ice rink on the attached image (search tells me the nearest rink is 11km away). Can anything be done about that? If its disappointing when you know the information is there somewhere but Locus can't search for it .
Thanks .
Hi,
overall search button is already placed in the function panels as one of the default buttons, however, it doesn't contain search in map POIs. We know it and we are gioing to do something with it - LoMaps POIs feature is planned to be rebuilt in near future, including POI search. Then we can think about placing it on the main screen, not now.
As for the remark that "not everything on the map can be found via search" - LoMap POIs are rendered from OpenStreetMap data - if these data don't contain searched object, we can do nothing about it. You can become a member of the OSM mapping community and improve OSM maps and database yourself :)
