Add "Export all tracks" option

It would be nice to have "Export all tracks" option. Reasons are obvious.

That sounds like a backup?

I would prefer the export of a single track or a category of tracks to a category that I can choose (on my SD card).

elmuSSo, what are the reasons?

henkvanderspek: your wish is included in "I can choose" right? Because export of single track or category is already there. If you just want to change export location, it may be currently done by config file http://docs.locusmap.eu/doku.php/manu... , parameter "folder_absolute_export"

1. I`m always auto-exporting every track to .KML. I`m doing a lot of GIS, so I often use my tracks in different programs.

2. Sometimes I`m sharing my tracks with other persons, or just showing them where I have been.

3. Its also good as a backup

4. Auto-exporting to .KML is ok, but not if you lost all your exported tracks or you want to reexport them ( this time into .KMZ files).

What then? Manually export each track or each category? Why? If you can export one, why not to implement export all? I would say this should be obvious.

And also this feature existed years ago in the Locus, so I think it is time to reimplement it.

May you please reimplement it?

how many categories you have and how often you need export all tracks at once?

"And also this feature existed years ago in the Locus" ... it existed in times when there were no categories for tracks. Now exists tracks and as well as for points, there is ability to export all tracks in one category at once

Lets say you will introduce a new feature (eg. export track with the photos made during this track`s recording OR color changing of the tracks according to their type), so after that someone would like to reexport all of the tracks to see the new features.

And you know that I have a lot of tracks, so with Export all tracks feature, I can just press one button and forget about it for the while.

Where is the difference to backup manager? Just asking...

@menion: I am a windows Explorer guy. I do not need one permanent export Location configured through a cfg file.

When I do an import I see nicely all my (external on SD card) categories and I can import in the category of my choice.

When I do an export of a (usually recorded) track I have no choice where it goes (unless I define by cfg file but that is a static destination). One time I record on mountainbike, next day I record a hike. In both cases I would love to export to a chosen category.

That said, I see no personal use for "exporting all tracks" unless it copies my folder structure.

Hi Henk

i agree with you - about "export to selectable directories"

but i think that`s a new topic

Good idea.

So maybe this two ideas are worth combining? Tracks from each category will be exported to different folders, and "exporting all tracks" will be compatible with that solution. Gynta, you are right, maybe its worth of creating new topics, but I have some other idea I want to share with you here, which is relevant to "Export all .."

When exporting all tracks at once, all of them have the same date and time, so its impossible to sort them by date ( this function is useful to search tracks from particular dates)

So idea is to change the "create date" and "modification date" of the exported files, to match the real date of their recording.

Still 7 votes.

Sometimes i wish i could export multiple tracks into a single file. But mostly i wish i could do it at all :)

I guess one of the main reasons that Locus is still severly lacking in these "power user" features is this:

Many users (and maybe the author as well) still see Locus as a "little addon" for being on the road. When you are at home, you are supposed to use more powerful desktop software on a "real" computer to organize your tracks and prepare your trips.

A misguided view if you ask me, "real" computers will die off sooner or later.
