Alert me when reaching a position in offline navigation

In offline navigation I sometimes miss an important change of direction. I'd like to be able to set a mark on map and then receive an alert when I am reaching it. All offline. No preplanned itinerary (because I deviated from plan). No preplanned navigation.. Not taking into account tracks. Just a "tell me when I reach this point". E.g in Desert.

To be precise. I d like to receive SOUND alert because mobile in my pocket and I cannot keep looking at it permanently. Navigate is ok if you can look at it..

I have tried it. I find it annoying to have to bookmark/create the POI.
At one point I had difficulties knowing if indeed an alert was set or not and where it was set but I was reaching out for my breath :-)
I am not sure if I can create several alerts at once.... and where I see the list of them
summary : I need to do some more tests, but it seems the feature is there but not toally convienient...
